Accessibility for procurement standard EN 301 549 updated

The Standard EN 301 549 that sets the accessibility requirements for public sector web content and mobile apps has now been updated to EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (PDF) which reflects the new success criteria added in WCAG 2.1.

The European Directive 2016/2102 mandating the accessibility of web content and mobile apps references an older version, EN 301 549 V1.1.2 but says, in Article 6:

"The Commission is empowered to adopt delegated acts in accordance with Article 10 in order to amend paragraph 3 of this Article by updating the reference to European standard EN 301 549 V1.1.2 (2015-04) so as to make reference to a more recent version of that standard, or to a European standard replacing it(...)."

It is therefore wise to look for the latest version of EN 301 549 for guidance regarding accessibility requirements for public web sites.
